Wine Cheese Chocolate

Wine Cheese Chocolate ~ A Tasting Party for the Ages

On their own, these three simple foods are impressive, but when combined, their magic truly shines! The distinct attributes and diverse flavors found in a variety of chocolates and cheeses round out and enrich the twists and turns of Fine Wines. All of these characteristics, flavors, and complexities blend together to spur creative pairings you may never have thought of before and will surprise your palate.

Wine and Cheese Pairings!!!

For as far back as I can remember, I have had a deep fondness for cheese. And, as I’ve gotten older, I’ve happily welcomed Fine Wines to my list of loves. With the massive assortment of cheeses available, there is an exciting world waiting for exploration, especially when it comes to indulging in a cheese and wine tasting experience.  To create the perfect cheese and wine pairings, it’s a wise idea to pay close attention to this timeless advice: “what grows together goes together.”  In simpler terms, choose a cheese from the same region where the wine-producing grapes were grown!

The Ultimate Goal is Balance!!!

When thinking of the ideal cheese to enhance your wine selection, take into account your wine selection’s profile. Ask yourself this question, “Is this wine’s profile big, bold and robust or does it have a lighter, more delicate nature?” If your wine displays big, bold, robust flavors, you’ll want your cheese to display big, bold, and robust flavors as well.   For example, if you are serving a hearty, red Cabernet Sauvignon or a Zinfandel wine, you’ll want to serve a robust Roquefort or well-aged gorgonzola.  On the flip side, if you pair these same robust cheeses with a light delicate wine such as a Sauvignon Blanc or Pinot Grigio, the result will be an overpowering cheese experience.

When your wine exudes boldness and robustness, your cheese selection should also match that same level of boldness and robustness.

Consider presenting a wide range of options like blue cheese, sharp cheddar, Parmesan, Manchego, and Gouda to create a diverse cheese selection for your tasting party. However, if your goal is to truly impress your guests and leave a memorable impact, go for a bold pairing like horseradish cheese with an off-dry white wine such as a White Zinfandel. Prepare yourself for an explosion of flavors that will make your taste buds celebrate in style!

Wine and Cheese Pairings ~ A Creatively Simple Idea!!!

While wine and cheese pairings are naturally delightful, you have the chance to up lift them with stunning presentations. Remember those breathtaking cheeseboards you often see featured on Pinterest? Well, now it’s your turn to craft a visually captivating cheeseboard that’s worthy of a photograph or two. Summon your creative spirit and start a journey of delicious fun!

Wine and Chocolate Pairings ~ Absolutely Essential!!!

Wine and chocolate make for yet another absolutely essential pairing. Similar to cheese, the extensive range of chocolates lends itself perfectly to an ideal wine tasting pairing menu. With delightful selections like caramel chocolate, white chocolate, orange chocolate, dark chocolate covered dried fruits and mint chocolate, you’ll be giving your guests a remarkable WOW factor experience!

When it comes to pairing wine and chocolate, you should follow the same rules as you would when pairing wine and cheese. Take the following guidelines into consideration:

  1. Bold Dark Chocolate: Pairing a luxurious, intense dark chocolate fudge with a hearty red wine such as Malbec or Cabernet Sauvignon is an excellent choice.
  2. White Chocolate: Matching white chocolate truffles with a lighter red or white wine, like a Sauvignon Blanc or Pinot Noir creates a sweet combination.
  3. Mint Chocolate: To experience a delightful surprise, try pairing mint chocolate with Syrah or Cabernet Sauvignon for a truly exceptional indulgence.

Sit back, relax, and watch the enchantment expand as your guests relish each bite and sip!
