Fine Wine & A Simple, Easy Meal ~ Hello Summer!!!

Just mix together a cup of your favorite black bean and corn salsa and 12 oz of cooked shrimp. Divide evenly among 12 butter lettuce leaves. Voila, you are done and lunch or dinner is on the table. Add a glass of an amazing Fine Wine such as Smith & Sons’ Sauvignon Blanc California 2018 and the meal is complete.

This fabulous Sauvigon Blanc California is an amazing Fine Wine from the Napa Valley of California. One of the world’s most prestigious wine producing areas. This amazing wine is a nice golden hay color with notes of wildflower, apple, pear and light citrus. On the taste buds, I get the flavors of apple and pear with a nice buttery finish. This Fine Wine not only pairs well with all types of shellfish; but, it is amazing with vegetarian meals and goat cheese as well.

What is the difference between meteorological summer and regular (astronomical) summer you ask? Well, the regular (Astronomical) summer relates to the earth’s position as it orbits around the sun. As we go into June, the sun moves higher in the sky due to the tilt of the earth’s axis. The regular summer begins when the sun is the highest in the northern hemisphere sky. There lies the problem for meteorologist. The regular summer start date moves. Regular, or astronomical, summer can start anytime between June 20 and June 22. This fluctuation could cause a meteorologist to start drinking (Fine Wine Anyone?!).

Meteorologists like to compare the current summer to past summers. Was it hot, cold, rainy, or dry? Hence, the creation of meteorological summer. Meteorological summer begins on June first and ends on August 31. This means the summer season has the same number of days year after year. Thus, allowing the meteorologists to more easily track and compare the current season to the past seasons.

Fine Wine, Good Food and Some Trivia ~ What More do you Want?!

If meteorologists were using the regular (astronomical) summer, they would have to go back to each year and find out the date summer started and the date it ended. That is the only way they would be able to gather statistics to do a comparison of summer seasons. If they were doing this for a number of years, it would be a cumbersome and labor intensive process.

So go ahead and enjoy your summer starting now!!! You don’t need to wait until June 20 to start the party!!!
